BRB Publications produces a Public Records Newsletter and numerous guides to finding public records nationwide. They also created the Public Record Retriever Network, an organization dedicated to assuring professional standards for document retrievers in all 50 states. GODORT is the Government Documents Round Table of the American Library Association. PublicRecordCenter.com Links to the NYS Unified Court Systems eCourts website. The WebCivil Supreme option allows you to search all NY county Supreme Courts for civil cases in which an RJI (Request for Judicial Intervention) was filed. The site also links to WebCrims data which allows the user to look up any criminal case with a future appearance date (NOTE -- this is not a criminal history search -- see next item). The place to go if you need to consult a local specialist for out-of-state public records.
In 1996, SearchSystems started out as a skiptracing and background search company working for law firms, financial institutions, and title insurance companies. In order to help their clients find public records on the Internet they developed a directory of links to public records called pac-info.com, which later became searchsystems.net. Since then, they've added over 48,000 links to public record databases. These links are organized by geographic location and by type of public record, and a helpful description has been added to each one. Search Systems may be the best resource for public records--especially criminal records--on the Internet. Some sites are free, some available only to "premium" subscribers who pay an annual fee.

BRB provides links to thousands of free public record sites in all 50 states. This site also offers a free, searchable database which allows you to find records retrievers in any county in any state. The site also links to newsletters, blogs, etc. of interest for public records research, and lists all BRB publications, such as Business Background Investigations and The Criminal Records Manual.
